Covering an area of 19,000 square kilometres, Carrathool is the largest Shire in the Riverina. Carrathool Shire Council includes the town of Hillston, as well as the villages of Goolgowi, Merriwagga, Carrathool, and Rankin Springs.

You will receive 4 weeks annual leave each year as well as long service leave after 5 years.

We assess our employee's skills at least annually, giving you an opportunity to identify skills you have newly acquired or brought to the position and helping to identify your training needs for the next 12 months.

We provide annual salary increases, effective from 1 July each year. The percentage increase is determined by the Local Government (State) Award.
All employees are entitled to nominate their own super fund or join the Local Government Superannuation Scheme. You also have the option to salary sacrifice part of your salary into your superannuation.
Specific incentives are used where we need to attract and retain key staff or where it is difficult to recruit to critical positions. These include:
Subsidized housing: Council offers housing at a subsidized rate to specialist / professional roles.
Relocation assistance: Some full-time positions may be considered for relocation assistance including removalist costs (apportioned over a 3, 4, or 5 year period), or a rental/mortgage subsidy.

We let you know exactly what is expected of you in terms of both performance and behaviours.
Each employee has an annual performance review which is linked to Carrathool Shire Council's strategic plans, values and capability framework. Your annual review is your opportunity to reflect and receive formal feedback on the work you have done over the last 12 months.
